My Journey Back to Cali!

After six long years, I'm finally back to where I'm from!

I left Colorado last Wednesday morning, pretty early, and was actually really sad to leave Janelle's house! Her two doggies, Miles and Henry were so cute and lovable, that I'm going to really miss those guys!! I am so thankful to have such a great friend, and that she has a very understanding husband, because she made my last two months in Colorado very enjoyable. When I left Janelle's, I made her a very cute candy gram...

(I think she really liked it!!)

On Wednesday, I drove for about 12 hours straight! I started in Stapleton, and after only making a few stops, ended in Las Vegas, where Marla and the Kaplan's let me, so generously, stay in their home. After driving through some wet, awful, snow through the Rocky Mountains, I then experienced some beautiful  sights in Utah and Arizona. Here are some pictures I took through my car window...

Here is my first picture outside of "Colorful Colorado," as I head into the Utah rock formations!

These mountain/rocks reminded me of the flatirons!

Here is a picture of me entering Arizona.

Here was a beautiful sunset. However, the picture doesn't look that pretty, and you can really tell how gross my windshield was! The bugs were so... gross!!

Marla was so nice to let me stay with their family on Wednesday night when I was driving through. They fed me and gave me a place to stay! I couldn't be more thankful!! One thing I didn't know about them, was how many cute dogs they had! Their smallest one, Ella, was so precious. She jumped on my bed, and automatically laid on her back to get her belly rubbed!!

Look at Ella!

I left early Thursday morning to continue my drive into the San Fernando Valley to stay with my mom. Here is a pretty picture of me leaving Las Vegas Thursday morning.

I made it to lunch with my mom around 12:30! I made great time! I spent two fun days with my mom, and even helped Caroline get ready for the Father Daughter Sweetheart Dance! Her hair looked so cute! I wish I had a picture of it! Then, Christie and I sold raffle tickets at the event and then went and ate at Stonefire with Cassidee! Saturday, I left to go eat breakfast with my dad, then drove to my grandmas, and then made it into San Jose around 7pm. The place was a mess, so I'm sure Kyle is glad to have his "maid" back (and I can help him take care of his knee too!). So I think that catches everyone up on my life! Until next time...

My Colorado Friends :)

Now that Janelle has finally emailed me the picture we took, I can talk about my great surprise "going away" dinner! I couldn't believe they all planned to get together without me knowing! Janelle ended up telling me there was a dinner, however she didn't tell me who all was invited or coming! The dinner turned out to be: Janelle, Leslie, Allyson, Bri, and even Tara! We ate dinner and had margaritas at the Rio, and talked the night away! The time passed so quickly, and it made me realize how much I am going to miss these girls :)

Here is a quick showdown of when I met each one of these beautiful ladies...

I actually spoke with Janelle on Facebook, before I really even met her! I knew she was the upcoming captain of the CU Express, and I wanted to get to know her and learn a little bit more about what I was getting myself into. She picked me up at good 'ole College Inn dorm (where I only resided for about two weeks!) and we went to Olive Garden for our first team bonding. We hit it off right away, and have been best friends ever since! We lived together my sophomore year, and RIGHT NOW! She was so nice to take me in when I was so rudely kicked out of my house, and I couldn't be more thankful! She is always there to talk to me on the phone and texts me all day long! I know being in California, we'll still be as close as ever!!!

First of all, this picture is SO FUNNY! I feel like this is when I really got to know Leslie. My first Halloween in Colorado, we all decided to be Fanta Girls! We got our eye shadow done at Mac, and as you can see, we went all out! Leslie and I danced together for two years on CU Express, and did some fun, crazy, and stupid things together! Our trips to big 12 conferences were always fun and exciting, and we always make the best of every situation. I love you Leslie!

Allyson and I have known each other for three years now. We both auditioned for Broncos at the same time, and I knew her as "the good dancer that wore a weird brown audition top." Now I know her as a lot more than that! We always have so much fun when we are together and usually end up getting slap happy. When we were in Vegas for Janelle's Bachelorette, we decided to never go to sleep, and we stayed up all night playing blackjack, making Scottish men do the splits in the middle of the casino, and having the best breakfast EVER with some really funny people who also hadn't gone to sleep yet! She loves candles and soap, even if that seems lame, and is such a great friend! I know one LONG phone convo will be able to catch us up in no-time!

I've also known Bri for three years, she was my captain on Broncos for my first two years on the team! She is crazy, and her laugh is infectious! This picture brings back so many good memories of our "Team D (fence)" Cheerleader Challenge. Bri and I got really competitive, and we definitely finished first in our kayak competition. We were screaming, "right, left, right left" the whole time and even got stuck for a few seconds in the water fountain! She is always up for a good time and can make me laugh!!

Tara and I have ALSO known each other for three years, but haven't really gotten to know each other better until this year. She was my captain on Broncos, and our line definitely had a lot of fun!! We had inside jokes and every time we danced it was, "the best we ever danced!" Even though I didn't always understand her sense of humor, we always laughed and had a good time!

Thanks girls for a great night and great memories! I will miss you all and have had so much fun here in Colorado with you all!!! XOXOXOXOXOX

I'm the worst blogger ever.

I am clearly the worst blogger ever. It must be because I'm alone on such a "romantic" holiday, that I've found time to create a post. So very much has happened in the last two weeks. Here is a (not so) quick recap.

After learning about Kyle hurting his knee on Friday night, Jan. 27th, we still didn't quite know the severity until the MRI results came in the following Monday. It turns out it was very serious and they wanted him in surgery the following day. So on Tuesday, Jan. 31st, at 5:45 in the morning, I flew out to San Jose to be with Kyle and help him recover from surgery.

The flight alone got off to a horrible start, I woke up AN HOUR LATE! Instead of getting up at 3:30, I woke up at 4:30! I made it to the airport, parked my car, and printed out my ticket at 5:05. Can you believe it? Then I got in line for security, waiting longer than usual, get up to the front, for them to tell me the kiosk only printed out the second part of my flight (from Phoenix to San Jose)! I had to run back up the escalator, cut the line, have the woman print out my correct ticket, go back through security, get on the train to the terminal, to then realize that my gate is the last possible gate in the terminal and the screen already says "boarding." After sprinting through 4!!!! moving sidewalks, I run up to the gate and am the last one on the plane. When I get into the plane every passenger looks annoyed that I made them wait, and as I load my bag into the overhead bin, the mesh part on top gets caught, and my bag is stuck! It got so tangled it took myself, the flight attendant, and one kind person to help get the bag out and into a different bin! It was so embarrassing. Needless to say, I was very happy when I finally landed in San Jose!

But on a good note, Kyle's surgery went well. It was supposed to last 1.5 hours, but it took almost 5! The doctor was happy with his work, however he did have to remove Kyle's lateral meniscus and he will have to eventually have another surgery to replace it. My week in San Jose was full of movie watching, running errands, and cooking! I made a baked ziti dish, turkey and bean chili, and pork tacos/fajitas. We were able to freeze some for Kyle to heat up later which was the plan!

Here is Kyle asleep the day after surgery. Isn't he cute all covered in my pink decor??

I flew back on Sunday just in time for my promotion before the Superbowl. At first I couldn't find where I parked my car though! I knew exactly where it was, but I thought I was on the west side (where my car actually was) but I must have gotten mixed up in the airport because I was really on the EAST side! After the car fiasco, and after I de-snowed my car, I made it to my promotion, and then went back to Janelle's for a fun Superbowl fiesta! The following week I babysat Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and on Tuesday and Thursday I helped Kelly in the Broncos office. She was stressed because her favorite doggie died and the JDBC end of the year party was on Saturday! The party turned out to be a success though, and my time chart worked wonders! I even got some great gifts from my favorite young ladies and they were all sad to hear my departure plans.

Then, on Sunday, Janelle "surprised" me (she gave me a little head's up) and we all went out to the Rio Mexican restaurant for a last girls night with me in Colorado! It was fun, but sad to think that I won't be able to do things like that anymore! I know that I'll still come visit though, and hopefully they will visit me!

That brings me...finally...to TODAY! It is February 14th, and exactly five years ago, on this date, Kyle took me on our first date. He picked me up after I danced at a CU basketball game, and took me to the MED, one of my favorite Boulder restaurants (until Kyle's graduation when Jamie had a cockroach in her food!). Even with only one leg, he still sent me some beautiful flowers. He knows how much I love lilies, because they take forever to bloom, last a long time, and smell delicious. The arrangement is gorgeous, and I couldn't have asked for a better Valentine's Day.

And now that you've read an entire book, you are finally caught up in my life! I have another busy week with a Cherry Creek Basketball game tomorrow, a charity Thursday, and babysitting and a farewell dinner Friday. I'm leaving next Wednesday so there is a lot to be done! I promise I'll be a better blogger now that I'm caught up! Until next time...
